Endorsement

I met Francesca Todeschini as a participant in the 2018 edition of my online Capra Course on the systems view of life (www.capracourse.net), which I teach twice a year to participants from all over the world. I was immediately impressed by Francesca’s passionate interest in applying the systems approach to her field of conflict management. It seemed well thought out and motivated by a strong conviction.

In subsequent courses, Francesca kindly offered to facilitate an Italian study group, which she did with great skills and sensitivity. This confirmed to me her strong

desire, both personal and professional, to work for the common good in conflict prevention and resolution.

As Francesca explains in the different sections and articles of this site, the advanced systemic vision that underlies my integration of the biological, cognitive, social, and ecological dimensions of life has also become the underlying scientific framework of her professional approach, centered on relationships and going beyond the dualistic positions of right and wrong, winners and losers, for the fulfillment of everyone’s goals.

All living systems are united by the same nonlinear processes and patterns of organization, forming a vast network of relationships known as the Web of Life. Putting the emphasis on patterns and processes allows us to overcome the dualistic vision and find effective solutions to conflict, lasting over time, as well as to plan ways of prevention and best practices centered on the quality of relationships, because the properties of the whole are more than the properties of the individual parts. The advanced systemic vision therefore offers a transformative scientific key to understanding conflict dynamics.

I applaud and fully support this initiative, to my knowledge the first in Italy, of applying advanced systems thinking to conflict management. It is well expressed in this site by its founder Francesca Todeschini. I wish her well and I look forward to our continuing collaboration.
